The 13th European Society for Environmental History Conference will be held August 18th – 22nd, 2025 in Uppsala, Sweden.
Location
Uppsala is conveniently located 1 hour from Stockholm and 40 minutes from Arlanda Airport. The region offers a wide range of modern and historical experiences that can be appreciated during the conference. Uppsala University, the host of the conference, is the oldest university in Sweden, founded in 1477.
Format
ESEH 2025 will be a hybrid conference with possibilities for in-person and virtual attendance. It is being organized with the goal of fostering collaborations between research, the arts, and the public with the intent to inspire broader public conversations about the history and experience of climate change. We strive to ensure a sustainable, ecological, and inclusive experience through the planning of this event.
Activities
Updates on coinciding tours, activities, and excursions will be posted here as the details become available. Given the breadth of historical and environmentally captivating ecosystems within a close proximity of the conference, we anticipate a variety of optional excursions will be available.
